Albert J. Spaw, 78, of Marysville, died Tuesday morning at the Convalarium at Indian Run in Dublin following a couple months of failing health. He truly enjoyed watching the old western movies on T.V., taking care of his garden and being around his cats over the years. He worked as a welder all of his life, with Marysville Steel in the 1980's locally and later retiring from Loftus Welding in Alabama. Born October 28, 1940 in Oil Center, KY, he was the son of the late Milford and Irene (Dye) Spaw. On July 29, 1961 in Ostrander, he married his wife of nearly 55 years, Phyllis Jane Spaw and she preceded him in death on February 2, 2016. He is survived by his children, Sabra (Jerry) Gober of Alabama, Kenny Spaw of Marysville, Tammy Spaw of Powell, Patty (Clark Loman) of Mechanicsburg and Lisa Pace of Alabama; grandchildren, Charlotte (John) Pesnell and Ginny Gober of Alabama, Jessica Spaw of Marysville, A.J. Spaw of Mechanicsburg, Bethany (Justin) Spaw of Columbus, Heather (Rick) Flack of Fredricktown, Greg Hyatt of Mt. Vernon and Mike Hyatt of Powell; numerous great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Carolann Schultz and Jimmy Earl Spaw both of Piqua and William Beard and Marsha Fanastock both of Kansas, along with several nieces, nephews and many close friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Luke Craymer will officiate and burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to the Union County Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
