Alice J. Spain

Alice J. Spain, 92, of Thornville and formerly of Marysville, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 at her residence.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, she retired from ITE/Bulldog Electric/Siemens where she had worked for over 32 years. An avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, she enjoyed word find books, driving the boat with Gary and riding the motorcycle with Garrel. Alice formerly attended the Marysville First United Methodist Church.

Born December 18, 1931in Milford Center, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Georgia (Gansheimer) Rees. On May 13, 1950, she married Garrel Spain, Sr. and he preceded her in death on March 23, 1989. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sabrina Spain and four sisters, her twin, Anna Speakman, Linda Spain, Cora Speakman and Helen Simpson.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Spain of Thornville and Donny (Frances) Spain of Marysville; grandsons, DJ, James E., Jason E., and Christopher L. Spain; 10 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and her brother, Clarence “Bud” Rees of Zanesfield. 

Funeral services to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 16, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow next to her husband at the Unionville Center Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the service on Friday beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Those attending are encouraged to wear their favorite O.S.U. attire.
