Barbara A. Smith

Barbara A. Smith, 94, of Marysville and formerly of Gahanna, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Memorial Hospital of Union County.

A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed flowers, gardening, and feeding and watching the birds, especially hummingbirds. Barbara worked for many years as the administrative secretary to the dean of the College of Nursing at The Ohio State University. She also worked with the Greater Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau and was extremely proud of her time spent volunteering for Ameriflora. 

Born November 18, 1929 in Dallas, TX, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Zella (McElhenny) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret June (Brown) Kremer; and her brothers, Marshall Crawford Brown, Jr. and Charles Robert Brown.

She is survived by her children, Wendy (Randy) Lyons of Marysville and Andrew (Sheri) Smith of Marion; a grandson, Maxwell Fenstermaker; step-grandchildren, Christopher and Emily Lyons; nieces and nephews, Debbie (Don) Kremer Brown, Richard (Jeanette) Kremer, Charles Kremer, Laurel (Clyde) Kremer Beatty, along with many great nieces and nephews and also great-great nieces and nephews. 

Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel 621 W. Fifth St. Marysville. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday.
