Dale A. Barney, 67, of Rushsylvania, passed away suddenly, Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
A 1972 graduate of Urbana High School, Dale worked with D.A.B for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting arrowheads, collecting coins and spending time with his family.
Born January 26, 1954 in Bellefontaine, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Margaret (Mullen) Barney. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Randy and David Barney.
On November 10, 1973 at the United Methodist Church in Zanesfield, he married his wife of nearly 48 years, Candace (Zell) Barney and she survives in Rushsylvania. He is also survived by his daughters, Carey (Aaron Carpenter) Taylor of West Mansfield and Dori (Kimsey) Kennedy of DeGraff; a son, Jobe Barney of Jackson Center; grandchildren, Karli (Nate) Purtee, Cami (Blake Burnsworth) Castle, Rachel Taylor and Kimsey “Snapper” Kennedy, III; a great granddaughter, Karlee Purtee; brothers, Joseph A. Barney of Rushsylvania, Bruce and Mike Barney of Urbana; John (Kim) Barney of DeGraff; his beloved fur-baby, Darwin; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended friends and family.
In keeping with Dale’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be held. Committal services will be held privately by the family at a later date. Arrangements are being handled for the family by Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel 222 W. Center St. West Mansfield.
