Dale J. Speakman, Sr.

Dale J. Speakman, Sr. 70, of Milford Center, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Dublin Methodist Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Having a love for the outdoors and traveling, he looked forward to going camping every chance he had. He enjoyed his cats, riding in his golf cart and took great pride in building a wishing well for Patricia. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.

A 1973 graduate of Marysville High School, he worked with Sumitomo Electrical Wiring for many years, retiring in 2021.

Born April 7, 1954 in Marysville, he was the son of the late Roy and Cora (Rees) Speakman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melissa Sue Speakman; a grandson, Curtis Speakman; and his grandparents, William and Dora (McIntyre) Speakman and Clarence and Georgia (Gansheimer) Rees.

On June 30, 2005 in Bellefontaine, he married his loving wife, Patricia M. (Carter) Speakman, and she survives in Milford Center. He is also survived by his children, Dale (Becky) Speakman, Jr. of LaRue, David Ferrell of Urbana and Rhonda (Chad) Emmert of Bellefontaine; granddaughters, Becka Martz, Sabrina King, Trinity Ferrell, Katelynn Nelson and Deseria Fryman; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Vicki (Phil) Huey of Marysville and a brother, Daniel Speakman of Marysville; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends. 

Services to celebrate Dale’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home 621 W. Fifth St. Marysville. Burial will follow at Union Township Cemetery in Milford Center. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the funeral home and also prior to the service on Thursday beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
