Dorothy LeVon "Toots" Brehm, 86, of Cable and formerly of Raymond, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family after some extended health struggles. She graduated from McGuffey-McDonald High School. A loving wife, mother and homemaker first and foremost, Dorothy worked at Ranco in Plain City for 29 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the former Bethel United Methodist Church where she was active in the Mr. and Mrs. Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed to crochet, needlepoint and do word searches. Born August 10, 1931 in McGuffey, she was the daughter of the late Ora Melvin and Gertrude (Carmen) Newland. On September 14, 1949 in Alger, she married Fred Brehm and he preceded her in death on April 17, 2004. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jenny Brehm; her sisters, Helen Ellis and Karen Staley and her brothers, Melvin, Raymond and William Newland. Surviving are her children, Gerold (Jennifer) Brehm of Cable and Marsha Kae Tucker of Pharisburg; grandchildren, Shawn (Velma) Brehm, Richard (Kerrinda) Bywater and Michele (Roger I.) Kirk; brothers, Ora (Phyllis) Newland of Mount Victory and Leonard (Paula) Newland of Lima; a brother-in-law, Eldon Staley of Ada, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday. Pastor John Ramsey will officiate and burial will follow beside her husband at the Raymond Cemetery.
