Edwin Green

Edwin Lowell Green, 70, of West Mansfield, passed from this life on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Riverside Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, on June 16, 1945, to William Max Green, who survives in West Liberty and Jean Eloise Hurley, who preceded him in death in 2007. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Doug (Soap) Green; brother-in-law, Steve Sutherly; mother-in-law, Beula Garvin; sister-in-law, June Garvin, and life-long friend, Russ Weiser. A 1963 graduate of Buckeye Local Schools, Ed worked at Daido Metals for over 40 years as a chemical process supervisor, was part of the Benjamin Logan football "chain gang" for 23 years, and was a past volunteer with Bokescreek Fire & Rescue. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anita; children, L. Jean (Jeff Klopfstein) Love of Dayton; Lucinda M. (Andy) Fleming of West Liberty; and Donald E. (Karen) Green of Chatham, IL; his grandchildren, Tommy and Suzanne Green, Sam and Julia Fleming, and Daniel Hefty; a step-grandson, TJ Klopfstein; sister, Fran Sutherly; father-in-law, John Garvin; stepmother-in-law, Ruth Garvin, brothers and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Ed was a man who loved finding a good bargain at an auction, fishing, NASCAR, collecting milk bottles and Marblehead Lighthouse memorabilia; and known for his madcap escapades with his father, brother, and friend, Russ. He was immensely proud of his family and took every opportunity to support them in their activities. Visitation will be Monday, December 21, from 2:00- 8:00 P.M. at Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home 222 West Center St. West Mansfield where the funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 22, at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, West Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marblehead Historical Society, the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, or Calvary Christian School in care of the funeral home.
