Elsie F. Skidmore, just 3 weeks away from her 96th birthday, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Memorial Gables in Marysville.
A devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandma, whether a card or a call, she never forgot any of the grandchildren's birthdays. She loved her family and enjoyed the time spent with them. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and was an excellent seamstress. Elsie loved traveling and camping, especially when they settled in Florida. She looked forward to the many winters she spent in Pine Island, FL.
A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime and dedicated member of the Millcreek Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and served on the Missions committee. Her passion for her faith helped many of the children in her Sunday school classes form solid foundations as they began their faith journeys.
With a strong work ethic, Elsie did her part during WWII, going to work at Harding's Machine Shop. She later went on to work at D.A.B. and then worked many years at the Post Office., eventually retiring as postmaster from Mt. Victory.
Born July 28, 1924 in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Simpkins) Thompson. On October 13, 1941 in Greenville, SC, she married her husband of over 59 years, Robert Thomas Skidmore and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2001.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Don) Kerns of West Mansfield, Penny (Jerry) Robinson of Bellefontaine and Mark (Christi) Skidmore of West Mansfield; grandchildren, Steve Rife, Jana (Jim) Mitchell, Jill Kinney, Scott Robinson, Matthew (Krissy) Robinson, Mark (Alaina) Robinson, Ann (Hayden) Stanley, Ryan Skidmore and Luke (Sarah) Skidmore; 17 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
