Frances Cora Giles

Frances Cora Giles, 83, of Raymond and formerly of Morral, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 with her family by her side.

A loving mother, grandmother and partner, she was a wonderful provider to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and watching TV, especially something with Kevin Costner. In her younger years, she enjoyed making crafts and going to craft shows. She also was an original “extreme couponer.” She loved stocking up on her coupon deals, then making gift baskets for the kids or having them come “shopping” with all of her goodies.

Fran attended Northwestern High School in Raymond, and retired from Whirlpool Corp. in Marion after 30 years.

Born November 6, 1939 in Louisa, KY, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mae (Derifield) Compton. She was preceded in death by her companion and partner, Don Beck on December 28, 2021. In addition to her parents and Don, she was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Giles and a grandson, Torrie Griffith.

She is survived by a son, Joe (Ruth) Giles of Broadway; daughters, Cheri (Mike) Covrett of Raymond and Cathi Griffith of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Brian (Rhonda) Lane, Patty (Mike) Galloway, Lora (Micah) Boysel, Jay Giles, Angie (Ryan) Schwieterman, Miranda (Dana) Green, Tiffany (Matt) Miller, Shannon (Kenny) Czarnecki and Michael Covrett; 26 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

In keeping with Fran’s wishes, services will be held privately for the family and burial will take place at York Cemetery.
