George Coder

George Edward Coder, 91, of Marysville, and former longtime resident of West Mansfield, passed away early Tuesday morning at Bluebird Retirement Community surrounded by his family following months of failing health. A devoted husband and loving father and grandfather, he cherished his time spent with family. He loved to attend the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. He was known by many of his neighbors for working in his yard and enjoyed watching harness racing, especially when his son Tony's horse, Cam Coder was racing. George also liked a good game of cards, euchre being a favorite. George worked as a telegrapher for the railroad for over 40 years, sold and repaired televisions on the side and was a longtime member of the Big Springs United Methodist Church. Born January 3, 1927 in Marysville, he was the son of the late Harry and Ethel (Hatfield) Coder. On November 22, 1946 in Kentucky, he married his wife of over 70 years, Winona "Lonnie" Coder and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2016. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Coder and a brother-in-law, Keith Moffett. Surviving are his children, Tony (Anna) Coder of Bellefontaine, Susan (Itaru) Norris-Fujiwara of Marysville and Beverly (Rick) Tudor of Big Springs; grandchildren, Tony (Pragati) Coder, Jr., Lisa (Brian) Perry, Stacey (Jeremiah) Miller, Bryan Norris, Joshua (Ashley) Tudor and Jennifer (Mike Howard) Tudor; great grandchildren, Bryce, Alex, Nikhil, Madison, Corey (Hannah), Natalie, Brooklynn, Evelyn, Saijyn, Baikyr and Phenyx; a great great grandchild, Charlotte "Charlie;" a sister, Barbara Moffett of Marysville, a brother, Donald (Roberta) Coder of Marysville and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 2, 2018 at Big Springs United Methodist Church. Reverend Doug Thompson will officiate and burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in West Mansfield, next to his wife. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel 222 W. Center St. West Mansfield.
