James M. Stanforth, 74, of Marysville died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. He was employed with Seneca Electrical Wiring for 15 years. James graduated in 1960 from Wilmington High School, participated in the Civil Air Patrol, and proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of VFW Post #3320. James held a private pilot's license and was an avid skydiver, making over13 different jumps. He also enjoyed collecting coins and fishing, especially with his brother. He was born December 15, 1942, in Dayton to the late Marion L. and Ruth Thompson Stanforth. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Harriett (Robert) Patterson, Marian Lee (Elwood) Burbage, Betty Moran, a brother, Richard Stanforth, and a brother-in-law, Charles Reidmiller. Survivors include 5 children, Lolita (John) Chapman, Bellview; James Stanforth of North Dakota; Willard Stanforth, Bellview; Terry Stanforth, Freemont; Ernie Stanforth, Columbus, and Joe South, Kentucky; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings, Patricia (Richard) Trout and Brenda Reidmiller, each of Marysville; Pamela Oross, Richwood; Roger (Pam) Stanforth, Lake Havasu City, AZ; and Leonard Stanforth, Ines, Florida; and many niece and nephews. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Union County Honor Guard at the conclusion of the calling hours. Graveside services will take place at New Vienna IOOF Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 3320.
