John P. Leininger

John P. Leininger, 66, of Huntsville and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Otterbein Senior Living Facility in Gahanna, OH after a battle with neuroendocrine cancer.

John was born on February 18, 1958 to the late Stanley L. Leininger and Jean Kerr Leininger who survives at The Homestead, Logan Acres, Bellefontaine, OH.

John was a 1976 graduate of Benjamin Logan and was also a graduate of Aristotle Institute. John worked at The Ohio State University Cancer Hospital and in the private health care sector. John enjoyed gardening, science fiction books and movies.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Laura Leininger of Columbus; and his brother, Richard (Brenda) Leininger of Martinsville, IN. He is also survived by a niece, Lisa Phillips of Mooresville, IN, his great nieces Mariah and Cheyenne and their children; his aunt, Donna Smith and numerous cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Leininger.

The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, doctors, and aides at both Otterbein Gahanna and Ohio's Hospice for their care of John and the family during this difficult time.

Inurnment will take place in the East Liberty Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Ohio's Hospice at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center 410 W 10th Ave. – 7th Fl.
