Josephine Metz

Josephine E. Metz, 86, of Waldo, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 in Marion.

A 1953 graduate of North Lewisburg High School, she was a loving homemaker for her husband and children. She enjoyed baking and always loved the time spent with family and friends.

Born June 17, 1935 in Mingo, she was the daughter of the late Blaine and Mary (Johnson) Watkins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Metz; brothers, Jake, Jim, Roger, Ray, Lawrence, Charles and John Watkins; and her sisters, Elsie Spence and Evelyn Markin.

On March 30, 1956 in Urbana, she married her husband of nearly 66 years, Wesley Metz, and he survives in Waldo. She is also survived by a daughter, Patsy (Tim) Campbell of Marion; a son, Bruce Metz of Woodstock; grandchildren, Zachary Taylor, Garret Campbell and Greg (Amy) Campbell; great grandchildren, Zachary, Bradley and Harlow Taylor and Hayden, Karter and Melanie Campbell; a brother, Harvey Watkins of St. Mary’s; a sister, Eva (Charles) Johnson of North Lewisburg; and her sisters-in-law, Ruth, Mary, and Shirley Watkins.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Oakdale Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in care of the funeral home.
