Kathryn A. "Corky" Thompson, 86, of Clyde and former longtime resident of Union County, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Majestic Care in Clyde.
A graduate of DeGraff High School, she retired from Honda where she worked as a line inspector. Having a love of the outdoors, she enjoyed farming and being around horses. She owned race horses over the years and loved traveling to horse shows with her daughter, Kathy. She dearly loved her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and the many trips she took with them.
Born March 29, 1938 in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Elsworth and Ercel Ruth (Williams) Corkwell. On July 17, 1959 in Lima, she married her husband of over 32 years, Byron E. Thompson, and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1991. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Edgar Thompson; a sister, Sue Callahan; a brother, William “Bill” Corkwell; and a brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Laird.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Debra (James Brown) Arnold of Ashland and Kathy (Charles) Brown of Willard; her son, Thomas E. “Gene” Thompson of Huntington, IN; grandchildren, Jacob Wood, Kathryn “Katie” Jonas, Ian Brown, Thomas R. “Tommy” Thompson, Connor Thompson, Courtney Tews and Byron Thompson; great grandchildren, Raven, Wyatt, Silas and Trinity; a daughter-in-law, Amy Thompson of Sheboygan, WI; sisters, Pat Laird of Marysville and Nella Rabon of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law, Vivian Corkwell of West Mansfield and Melinda (Ken) Bowlin of TN; and a brother-in-law, Joe (Sara) Thompson of Raymond; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Wilson Funeral Home 621 W. Fifth St. Marysville. A memorial service will immediately follow beginning at 4:00 P.M. Burial will be held at a later date in the Millcreek Cemetery, next to her husband. Memorial contributions can be made to the Marysville High School FFA, in care of the funeral home.
