Linda M. Kohler, 63, of Marion, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Kobacker House in Columbus with her children by her side following many years of multiple health issues.
Born August 16, 1955 in Marion, she was the daughter of the Floyd Hindman and the late Vivian (Close) Hindman. On June 24, 1972, she married her husband of over 42 years and the love of her life, Keith Kohler, and he preceded her in death on August 9, 2014.
A 1973 graduate of Marion Harding High School, she and Keith were longtime members of Emanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed the radio broadcasts of Sunday services. She enjoyed collecting turtles, bells and antique or unusual cookbooks. Her personal library had grown to over a thousand volumes. Before declining health forced her into an early retirement, Linda taught school in the Marion area for over 30 years. Truly believing in the power of education and the concept of lifelong learning, Linda's own education included five bachelor's degrees from the Ohio State University in the areas of education, psychology and human development across the lifespan. She earned a master's degree in brain function/brain development relative to individual learning styles from Nova Southwestern University. She was nearing completion of her Ph.D when health issues made it impossible to continue. Her life included many adventures, but her remarkable family was always her greatest accomplishment. Affectionately known as "Grammy" to her beloved grandchildren, she showered them with love, surprises and special adventures whenever possible. She was also a supreme master of April Fool's day pranks.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Lynn Kohler of Hilliard and Travis John "TJ" Kohler of Marysville; grandchildren, Aleks "AJ" (Kristina) Kohler, Kailynn Kohler, Ashlee Kohler, Kale Kohler and Kash Kohler and her great grandchildren, Izzabella and Remington Kohler.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7 P.M. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Emanuel Lutheran Church with Deacon Kevin Kehn officiating. Friends may call prior to the service on Friday from 5-7 P.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Kobacker House 800 McConnell Dr. Columbus, OH 43214. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home, Marysville.
