Lydia A. Vollrath, 95, of Marysville, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Memorial Gables. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Lydia was a wonderful homemaker to her family and had that look, always letting you know what she meant. A lifetime member of St John's Lutheran Church, she was the oldest living member of the church at the time of her passing. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards with her sisters, gardening, babysitting her grandchildren and cooking and baking, especially pies. Born July 25, 1919 in Marysville, she was the daughter of the late Gerhard and Lena (Rausch) Streng. On August 18, 1940 at St. John's Lutheran Church, she married Harry A. Vollrath. They were married for nearly 58 years before he preceded her in death on July 1, 1998. Also preceding her in death was a son, Dwight Vollrath, son-in-law, George Ellinger, sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Elmer Scheiderer, sister, Bernett Chamberlain and brother-in-laws, Leroy Rausch and Norman Greenbaum. Surviving are her children, Ronald (Eileen) Vollrath, Sharon Ellinger, Glenn Vollrath, Wesley (Lois) Vollrath and Wanda (Robert) Weese all of Marysville; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Barb Vollrath; sisters Mae Rausch of Marysville and Marilyn Greenbaum of Irwin; brother-in-law, Sarge Chamberlain of Marysville and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Jack Heino officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 4-8 P.M. at the Mannasmith Funeral Home.
