Mildred Ballinger

Mildred Kress Ballinger Mildred Kress Ballinger, age 92, of West Mansfield died peacefully Thursday, May 19, 2011, at her home. Mildred retired as assistant cashier from the Union Banking Company in West Mansfield in September 1980 after a 25 year career. She was a member of the West Mansfield United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, choir member, communion steward, trustee, and a member of United Methodist Women. She also was a charter member of the Silver Circle of the Kings Daughters. She graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1936 and married Dwight W. Ballinger in her parents' home in June, 1936. She and her husband, enjoyed numerous vacations and following retirement they spent twenty-one winters in Hawthorne, Florida. She was born on Sept. 26, 1918, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the oldest daughter of the late Holmes H. and Reva Loffer Kress. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, and a sister, Ruth Kress Hauenstein. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Sandra (Thomas) Jameson of Ann Arbor, MI; a son, Dr. Philip (Nancy) Ballinger of Upper Arlington; four grandchildren, Dr. Keith (Dottie) Jameson of Hillsdale, MI; Katherine (Rev. Dr. Michael) Sanders of Indian River, MI; Eric Ballinger and Monica (Andrew) Powers of Hilliard, OH; four great-grandchildren, Sarah and Allie Jameson, Brock Burger, and Victoria Powers; a brother, Merlin (Shirley) Kress, West Liberty, two sisters, Leah Cook of West Liberty and Miriam (Gene) Wynn of Elida; several nieces, nephews and friends; and her church family. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011, and from 11 a.m-1 p.m on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home in West Mansfield where the funeral service will begin on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Michael Sanders (grandson-in-law) will officiate and burial will be in the family plot next to her husband at York Cemetery, York Center, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 3380 Tremont Road, Columbus, OH 43221, or Universal Home Health & Hospice, 701 S.
