Omolara “Anika” Nelson, 51, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 following a brief illness.
A 1989 graduate of Harding High School, she formerly worked at Whirlpool Corp. and most recently with Taco Bell in Marion. Always with a smile, she had a giving heart and was ready help anyone. She looked forward to family get-togethers, enjoyed going out to eat and loved going camping, rafting and spending time outdoors. She formerly attended the Solid Rock Church of God in Christ where she participated in the Sunshine band.
Born January 12, 1971 in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of John and Juanita (Bristel) Nelson, Jr. Her father preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Juanita Nelson of Marion, a daughter, Aalliyah Campbell of Marion; her brothers, Kamal Nelson of Marion and Jafari Nelson of Worthington; nieces and nephews, Brandon, Paige, Isaiah, Jasmine, Jade, Anquan, Olivia and Jayden Nelson; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family and friends.
A Home Going service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church 475 E. Fairground St. Marion. Bishop Walter C. Willie, Jr. will officiate and burial will follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel 621 W. Fifth St. Marysville.
