Robert Draudt

Robert A. "Bob" Draudt Robert A. "Bob" Draudt, age 84, of Marysville died peacefully Friday, July 22, 2011, at The Gables at Green Pastures with his family at his side. A longtime grain farmer, he was a boiler operator and licensed stationary steam engineer with Marion Power Shovel where he retired as general foreman following a 39 year career. He was also proud to have worked with Crise Electric, Ideal Machine, and Jeffery Manufacturing. He served 2½ years with the US Coast Guard Merchant Marines during World War II and was proud to have a war memorial plaque placed at Battery Park in New York Harbor. A member of American Legion Post #79, he attended the Marysville Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed steam engines, working in his machine shop and being surrounded by his family. He was born January 1, 1927, in Gahanna to the late Howard N. and Dolly Sandridge Draudt. He married Phyllis Irene Warrick on June 10, 1950, and she preceded him in death on December 9, 2003. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Draudt, 2 brothers, Ned Draudt and Ray Draudt, and a niece, Charlinda Draudt. Survivors include 2 daughters, Janet Draudt, a resident of Milcrest Nursing Center, Marysville; and Carol (Allen) Yeoman, Raymond; 2 grandchildren, Robert (Shannon) Cunningham and Tanya (Dan) Smith; 6 great-grandchildren, Zane, Gary, Zoe, Auston, Bryan, and Lilly; 3 sisters-in-law, Charlotte Draudt, Prospect; Marjorie Draudt, Ft. Wayne, IN; and Barbara Dennison, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Ronald (Martha) Warrick, Marion; two nephews and a niece; and a special friend, Annette Joyce Hanson and her family, of Marysville. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Mannasmith Funeral Home, Marysville, where the funeral service will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Brother Tony Hansen will officiate and burial with military honors will take place at Marion Cemetery.
