Robert Eugene “Gene” Worstell, 87, longtime resident of Marysville, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Monarch Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his family.
A devoted husband and loving father and grandfather, Gene was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver and owned and operated his own hauling company for many years. He loved fishing and playing golf, and formerly attended the Marysville Congregational Church.
Born January 23, 1934 in Marysville, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Lucretia M. (Woodworth) Worstell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Klingerman and Marilyn Beightler and his brothers, Don, Jim and Dick Worstell and Max Crider.
On December 29, 1951 at the church parsonage in Marysville, he married his wife of nearly 70 years, Frances (Davis) Worstell and she survives in Marysville. He is also survived by his sons, Doug Worstell and Jeff (Sherry) Worstell, both of Marysville; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Union County Honor Guard immediately following the callings hours Thursday at 7:00 P.M. Burial will take place at a later date.
