Rodney Alan Sprague, 58, of Marysville, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following a brief illness.
A loving husband, son, grandfather, step-father, brother and uncle, Rodney was a man of faith and a dedicated member of the New Horizons Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf and loved to travel, not only seeing much of the continental U.S. but also many trips to Europe and several cruises. He also loved astronomy, taking a once in a lifetime trip to China in 2009 for the Saros Solar eclipse.
He was a 1981 graduate of Riverton High School in Kansas where he was on the Honor Roll, served as Junior-Class President and Senior-Class Vice-President, he also participated in band and choir. In 1985 he earned his bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University in Kansas where he also earned his MBA in 1989. Rodney was a Project Management Professional with Honda Trading in Marysville for 13 years receiving his PMI certification in August 2006.
Born January 31, 1963 in Joplin, MO, he was the son of C. LeRoy Sprague and Barbara (Roosa) Sprague-Shaw. He was preceded in death by his father and also a step-father, Larry Shaw.
On January 27, 2001 in Columbus, he married his wife of 20 years, Helen (Holub) Sprague and she survives in Marysville. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara Shaw of Galena, KS; sons, Drew (Kristy) Albrecht and Rob Albrecht of Columbus; grandchildren, Sarah and John Albrecht; sisters, Patty (Rodney) Madson of Galena, KS and Pam (Dale) Johnson of Claremore, OK; a brother, Roger Sprague of Greenville, NC; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Mike) Guildoo and Annie (Ken) Condit; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the New Horizons Baptist Church 17939 Paver Barnes Rd. Marysville, OH with Pastor Roger Williams officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Saturday at the church. Covid precautions will be observed at the church. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed beginning at 1:00 P.M. on the funeral home's Facebook page, Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are being handled for the family by Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel 621 W. Fifth St. Marysville, OH.
