Ross Oberdier

May 24, 1941 — January 31, 2025

Richwood

Ross Oberdier, 83, of Richwood, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at his home at the Bluebird of Marysville.

A 1959 graduate of Larue high school, Ross worked at commercial steel in Marion, pouring twenty-five tons of molten steel for eight years. He finished his career working at Nestles for thirty-two years, where he led a research team on several special projects. This gave Ross, a small-town country boy, an opportunity to engineer a product and travel to Germany and California to implement the new equipment. At age 55 he retired and started living his life to the fullest. He loved spending his time outdoors. He was an avid hunter, and fisherman. Being out on the water or being outside, he could see God’s fingerprints in the world around him. Fishing became his full-time hobby.

Born May 24, 1941, he was the son of the late Ralph and Madge (Bonham) Oberdier. On February 2, 1961, Ross married the love of his life, Juanita Conley, and she preceded him in death on November 11, 2020. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a great grandson, Raylon James Wheeler

He is survived by his children, Deb (Ken) Farrington of West Mansfield, Michael Oberdier of Columbus, Tammy (Jeff) Wheeler of Richwood, Rick (Becky) Oberdier of Radnor and Tracy Sowards of Delaware; grandchildren, Dustin (Amber) Farrington, Chelse (Shane) Hamilton, Josh Oberdier, Zach Oberdier, Brooke Wheeler, Brandon (Sarah) Wheeler, Jarrod Oberdier, Isaac Oberdier, Alissa (Logan) Ladd and Jedidiah Sowards; eighteen great grandchildren; and his sisters, Julia (Phil) Pharshal and Laura Bennett.

No calling hours or services will be held at this time and burial will be held privately at the Price Cemetery, next to his wife. Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel 222 W. Center St. West Mansfield is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be sent to New Path Pregnancy Centers 806 W. 6th St, Marysville, OH 43040. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wilsonfuneralhomesinc.com
