Ruth Holycross

Ruth I. Holycross, 87, of Bellefontaine and formerly of Marysville, died Friday, November 20, 2015 at Heartland of Bellefontaine. Known to many as Aunt Ruth, she was a loving homemaker and also a former foster parent. Always there to listen and be a constant comforter, she cherished spending time with her family. Ruth enjoyed cooking and was known for her potato salad at get togethers and her vegetable soup at Halloween time. She attended the Ridgeway Church of Christ. Born September 23, 1928 in Irwin, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Opal (Henson) Guisinger. Also preceding her in death were a son, Mark; a daughter, Kathryn (Mitchell) McMahon; sisters, Pauline Ianni and Betty Bradford and her brothers, Keith, Sam and Herman "Butch" Guisinger. She is survived by her husband, Aaron Holycross of Bellefontaine; her children, Ron (Gail) Mitchell of Manchester, NH, Pam (Jerry) Pittman of Bellefontaine, Gene (Carol Dewine) Holycross of Bellefontaine, Gary (Christine) Holycross of Ridgeway; a son-in-law, Steve McMahon of Mt. Vernon; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ann Guisinger of Marysville, Bernice (Jerry) Banks of Columbus, Imogene (Paul) Riegel of Jackson and a close family friend, Leroy Ballinger. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home 222 West Center St. West Mansfield, OH. Cory Savage will officiate and burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
