Sandra L. Johnson

November 7, 1951 — November 18, 2024

Middleburg

Sandra L. (Fulton) Johnson, also known as Sandy, Mammy, Grandma, Aunt Sandy and “Sandy of America” went home to Jesus on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Sandy was born to James and Madalene “Penny” Fulton on November 7, 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; Connie Burden; a brother, James Fulton; and son, Robert L. Richards.

She is survived by her earthly King, Kelly Johnson, whom she married on May 12, 2020 and he never left his wife’s side. Sandy is also survived by her sister, Carol (Chuck) Lefebvre; sons, James (Kendra) Campbell and Jesse (Kim) Richards; grandchildren, Katie (Texas) McCoy, John Richards, Isabelle Richards and Madalene Campbell; great grandchildren, Harlem McCoy and Mylan McCoy; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends, all of whom will feel her loss terribly.

Sandy worked various jobs over the years but the one she enjoyed the most was taking care of her elderly friends so that they could remain at home. Once retired she would take meals to anyone that she thought needed some “good ole’ home cookin.” Sandy never met one of God’s creatures that she didn’t feel the need to care for, from the most cantankerous of people down to the praying mantis that she made sure had a home in her flowers. Sandy enjoyed poetry but loved a gathering of people so she could be her social self. She always wanted people to know how much they were appreciated, usually by bringing one of many plates of cookies that always came with a hug. Sandy cared for countless children, elderly, and animals through the years. Her love for all of God’s creations will be greatly missed. In memory of Sandy, cook a meal for someone in need, take cookies to someone for no reason or simply feed the birds. As Sandy would say, “See you around the pool room.”

A gathering of family and friends to Celebrate Sandy’s life will be held from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel 222 W. Center St. West Mansfield. A memorial service will immediately follow. Memorial contributions can be made to Universal Hospice, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wilsonfuneralhomesinc.com
