Vicki J. Smith

Surrounded by her family, Vicki J. Smith, 69, of Marysville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, following an extended illness. 

A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, she retired from Catholic Health Services in Milford, Ohio where she worked as an account supervisor for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds, the Cincinnati Reds, and was a skilled seamstress and an excellent cook, known especially for her pies. But most of all, she cherished her time as “Mimi” to her granddaughters and her granddog. Vicki "loved big” and made sure that every special event or adventure was done to the fullest. 

Born March 26, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. Carr and Barbara J. Carr-Howerton. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Richard Howerton, and her sisters, Deborah Robbins and Regina Carr. 

On July 21, 1973 in Richmond, Indiana, she married her husband of nearly 51 years, Rick Smith, who survives in Marysville. She is also survived by her son, Ryan (Stephanne) Smith of Marysville; granddaughters, Aubrey and Amber Lee Smith; granddog, Marley Mae; brothers, Mark Carr of Marysville and Alan (Julie) Howerton of Defiance; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends. 

The family would like to give a heartfelt “Thank You” to Dr. Elie Homsy and the entire staff at Ohio State University Medical Center; as well as Dr. Michael Shaffer and Dr. Derrick Herman of Union County Memorial Hospital for the kindness and care given to Vicki.

Services to celebrate the life of Vicki will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Marysville Church of the Nazarene, 1126 N. Maple St, Marysville, Ohio. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will take place at a later date.
